Miscellaneous
ZIP Files
ZIP files are a method of distributing collections of files in a single and
compressed archive set. The advantages being: there is only one file for
you to download and the files are compressed so the download time is kept to a
minimum. However, you do need a special tool to extract the required files
from this archive file.
There are many utilities on the market that can extract the contents of ZIP
files:

Very common windows utility to extract ZIP archives. Used
to be free with the option to purchase up to version 8. But
since version 9, the package ceases to operate after the evaluation
period has expired, 30 days. You will need a full version of
this product (or an alternative that supports the new encryption
formats) if the file you are downloading requires a password.
This is because I use the DES and similar protections available in
version 9 and later to protect files.
Supports most archive formats found on Windows systems. |

The original developers for good old DOS of ZIP files.
Have not used this product for some time, but it only works for 30
days and I think it supports the new encryption formats used by
WinZip.
Supports most archive formats found on Windows systems. |

Another utility with a 30day evaluation period. Originally
for Mac, now also for Windows too.

Note: Although I have identified certain products here, this by no means any recommendation for these products. You should evaluate and formulate
your own reasons for using a particular product. There are many other
alternative products available and you should investigate alternatives, where
possible.
