Firefox Central Config New

Firefox is a wonderful new web browser that has taken the world, literally, by storm.  However, it has one major shortfall in the 'mass rollout' market for businesses, corporate and educational establishments - central configuration.  A short article  that I have written and available by clicking the 'Firefox Configs' menu item to the left, provides details on how to achieve central configuration and control.

The article does not cover the generation of the actual JavaScript required to perform central configuration, however a couple of very basic examples are included, just to get you started.  There are plenty of excellent web sites devoted on the Internet to writing JavaScript and I can't see the point in repeating these.

I now have a Beta edition of a fast, standalone program that maybe run anytime after installation of Firefox, to force Firefox to use a central configuration as discussed in the article above.  This program uses a simple to edit INI style file, that can be edited using any text editor (such as notepad) to achieve a desired setup of central configuration of Firefox.    It patches the Firefox installation to pickup a configuration file, which then advises Firefox where the full central configuration is located.  You can also protect the files in various ways to prevent 'unauthorised' modification, depending on your platform (Windows only, sorry).

If you wish a copy of my configuration utility, it is available for download from here.  There is no charge for this software and it will remain free while Firefox remains free.  As this is beta software, documentation is still in development.
